Diego’s Story: Chapter 3

After agreeing to train together, Nicole walked back to her room to change and Diego walked on down stairs and outside to the little training capsule building that he, Vegeta, Bardy, Trunks, and Truce trained in. At that time when Diego walked into the training room Vegeta had the gravity set to a number that Bardy could function in and was doing his normal strength training. Bardy was sitting in the corner meditating. Diego got in his own spot and started stretching and doing pushups.

Moments later the door opened to their training room and Nicole walked in. Vegeta looked at her and said, “I see you still want to train with the rest of us.”

Diego looked up at Nicole mid-push up and his breath caught. “What are you wearing?” he said to her as he saw that she was wearing a black form fitting training outfit, way different than the t-shirt and yoga pants that she used to wear when he had trained her over the years he had known her.

“What?” said Nicole, grinning, “You’ve never seen workout clothes before?”

Diego stood up and said, “We are all men here and you are a-well-.” Diego couldn’t finish his sentence; he refused to acknowledge her like that.

Nicole frowned and said, “I don’t see what the big deal is. I am covered.”

True, her outfit covered her arms and legs and the collar closed tightly around her neck.

Bardy sighed and said, “She’s fine, Diego. Stop acting like her older brother for once and let her have a little freedom.”

“Nobody asked for your input on the matter,” Diego said to Bardy. He then looked back at Nicole and noticed she had a little hurt in her eyes and that hurt him as well. “Fine,” he said to Nicole, “Wear what you want.”

Nicole sighed and said, “Are we going to discuss fashion like a bunch of school girls or are we going to actually get down to business here.”

Her statement almost caught Diego off-guard. He had almost forgotten how quick and sharp her tongue could be when she was irritated. He grinned and said, “Business it is.”

Bardy quickly stood up and tapped Vegeta’s shoulder. Vegeta looked at Bardy in an irritated expression. “Let’s watch this, father,” Bardy hissed, “It should be good.”

Vegeta rolled his eyes and walked with Bardy to the stand against the wall as Diego and Nicole faced each other.

“Hope you haven’t forgotten everything I taught you,” said Diego.

“Please,” said Nicole, “As if I would. I could easily knock Bardy there flat on the floor in under 2 seconds.”

“Yeah? But can you do the same to me?”

Nicole got in her attack position and said, “We shall see.”

Then Diego and Nicole began their training. Every punch Nicole sent Diego’s way as he blocked it; he was conscience of the smoothness of her hands as they collided with his skin, which sent electric currents throughout his entire body with every punch. He couldn’t bring himself to attack her back, for the first time ever. What the hell is wrong with me? he thought.

With one swift kick Nicole had tripped Diego to fall on his back. He looked at her face and saw that she was angry. “At least put some effort in this!” she exclaimed.

Diego closed his eyes. I can’t do this, he thought, not with these new feelings I do not understand. There shouldn’t be these feelings toward her from me. Our relationship isn’t like that! He sighed, opened his eyes, looked up into Nicole’s face, and said, “I’m sorry.”

Nicole got angrier in that instance and said, “Fine! We are done here then until you man up and fight with me like you should!” She then turned on her heel and stormed out of the training room.

“Shit!” Diego hissed.

Bardy let out a whistle and said to Diego, “You should apologize to her. She was really looking forward to a fun time with you.”

Diego stood and said, “I can’t right now. I’m gonna go take a shower.”

Vegeta and Bardy looked at Vegeta dumbfounded. “But you just took a shower!” said Bardy.

Diego felt embarrassed and said, “I need to go cool off.”

Bardy then understood and started to laugh.

Diego looked daggers at Bardy and said, “If you want to keep your face perfect you better just shut up right now. I need to go clear my mind.” He then walked out of the training room.

Vegeta thumped Bardy on the head.

“OW!” complained Bardy, rubbing the spot where it hurt on his head.

“Either get back to your meditating or training, or get out of here,” said Vegeta.

Nicole stormed up the stairs inside capsule corp. and ran straight into Chiaki.

“Princess!” exclaimed Chiaki, looking at Nicole in surprise and at what she was wearing. “I was worried about you. Please inform me before you go anywhere, it’s my job to accompany you as your personal body guard.”

Nicole looked at Chiaki and said, “It’s okay, I was just downstairs working out. You don’t have anything to worry about here.”

Nicole and Chiaki proceeded to walk toward Nicole’s room. Chiaki hated to bring it up but decided to. “Princess-.”

“Can you stop calling me that? Just say Nicole. I don’t mind.”

“Sorry. Nicole, listen. I worry with the way your friend looked at you earlier.”

Nicole laughed and said, “We haven’t seen each other in three years. He was surprised is all.”

“If you say so, but still, be careful around him. I don’t trust saiyans in general, as they are our rival race.”

“You don’t have to worry about the saiyans here, Chiaki. They are our strongest ally.”

They then walked into Nicole’s room and closed the door.

“It’s more than that, Nicole.”

Nicole got a black hoodie out of her bag and put it on over her workout top.

“You are our people’s future queen. Please remember.”

“Don’t remind me of that right now, Chiaki,” said Nicole looking at Chiaki, “I’m on vacation. I don’t want to think about my responsibilities.”

Chiaki nodded and said, “Okay. If you need me, I’ll be outside the door.” He then bowed and walked out.
