My KH1 FF: Chapter 2: A Second Chance

Later that evening they left Destiny Islands and went back home to their village. Sora and Riku stayed outside to play while Nicole went in to prepare dinner and Diego and Ash walked to go get some groceries from a nearby store.

Riku and Sora kept chasing each other and running until they were tired. They ran to the beach close by and laid down to look up at the starry sky. After some time, Riku stood up and said, “Hey, I’m gonna head back.”

Sora got up also and said, “Yeah, me too.”

As they were walking, Riku noticed something about Sora and said, “Sora, what’s wrong?”

            “Huh?” said Sora, confused.

They stopped walking and Riku pointed to Sora’s face and said, “You’re…”

Sora felt his face to find that he was crying. “That’s weird,” he said, “It’s like something’s squeezing me inside.”

“Somebody up there must be sad,” said Riku, motioning to the sky.

            “Up where?”

“They say every world is connected by one great big sky. So maybe there’s somebody up there in all those worlds who’s really hurting, and they’re waiting on you to help them.”

“Well gee, do you think there’s something I could do?”

Riku thought for a second and said, “Hmm…maybe they just need you to open your heart and listen.”

“I don’t know, Riku,” said Sora, “You say some weird stuff sometimes, but I’ll try it!”

            “Okay.”

Sora looked up at the sky and closed his eyes. He then thought, Hey, can you hear me?

A boy’s voice entered his heart and said, I heard your voice. It cut through the darkness around me. All alone, I followed the sound, into a sea of light, and found myself here, with you. You gave me something back when I needed it most. A second chance.

            I did?

But now I have to go back to sleep again.

            Are you sad?

Would you mind if I stayed here, with you?

Sure! If it’ll make you feel better!

            Thank you.

            Sore opened his eyes.

            “Well?” said Riku.

“You know,” said Sora, “I think it worked.”
