A couple of hours later, Diego realized that Nicole had fallen asleep. He gently picked her up, without waking her, carried her out of the bathroom into the bedroom, and laid her on her bed. He pulled the blankets over her and tucked her in. He kissed her forehead and whispered, “Don’t worry; I won’t bother you anymore with this.” He then left through her window and closed it behind him.
Later that day at dinner, Bulma, Vegeta, Truce, Bardy, Trunks, Nicole, Diego Jr, and Chiaki were seated at the dinner table. Diego did not show up.
“Where’s Diego?” asked Bulma.
Bardy shrugged and said, “You know him. He just does what he wants when he wants, even eating.”
“You would think he would eat with the rest of us, especially since Nicole is here,” said Bulma.
Nicole felt a little guilt and had a feeling she was actually probably the reason he wasn’t there.
“Maybe he’ll eat with us tomorrow,” said Trunks.
Nicole glanced at Vegeta and saw that he had glanced her way as well. When their eyes locked she quickly looked away and more guilt hit her. I wonder if he knows, she thought.
For the next few days Diego and Nicole continued to avoid each other. A lot of the time Diego would just go away during the day to either visit Gohan or be by himself at his favorite hideaway behind the waterfall.
Nicole was miserable and grew sadder the longer they continued like that.
Two nights before she had to leave back to her kingdom, they were at dinner again. Again Diego was a no-show. Nicole excused herself from the dinner table as an excuse that she had needed to go to the restroom, when all actuality, she just wanted to walk outside for some fresh air. Bulma, however, had other intentions.
“Could you bring Diego down here?” she asked Nicole.
Nicole froze. She looked at Bulma, nodded, and said, “I-I’ll try.”
“Thank you!”
Nicole walked up the stairs to Diego’s room. She stood there for a minute, hesitating. She then quietly knocked on the door. The door opened and Diego stood there, shocked to see Nicole. “Nicole,” he said.
Nicole looked at the floor. She felt so awkward and guilty. “Please come eat with us,” she said to Diego.
Diego sighed. He couldn’t deny her of a request and followed her back to the dinner table downstairs.
As Diego entered the dining room, Bulma said, “Oh so nice of you to finally join the rest of us!”
Diego took his seat between Bardy and his father. He didn’t look at the rest of them nor communicate and began eating his dinner.
Nicole sat between Diego Jr and Chiaki. She did not look at the rest either; however she couldn’t find her appetite anymore.
Chiaki noticed how she was and said, “Are you tired, Princess?”
Nicole looked at Chiaki and nodded.
Chiaki saw the sadness in her eyes. He didn’t understand why she was sad and it bothered him.
“Well if you aren’t feeling well,” said Vegeta, “You should go rest.”
Nicole looked at Vegeta, a little shocked, and nodded. She looked at Bulma and said, “Thank you for dinner, Bulma. I’m just not feeling well tonight. I’ll retire early. Good night.”
She and Chiaki left the dining room. Diego watched them go together and felt a little jealous of Chiaki.
When Truce saw that Nicole and Chiaki were out of hearing range, she looked at Diego and said, “What the hell is going on between you two?”
“None of your business,” shot Diego.
“I ought to kill you!” said Truce, “You have done something to hurt her, I know it. I’m surprised, but I know it.”
Diego groaned, looked at Truce with fire in his eyes, and said, “I said it’s none of your damn business what goes on between me and her!” He then stood up from the table, walked briskly out of the dining room, and out of Capsule Corp., slamming the door behind him.
The whole lot at the table were left dumbfounded. Vegeta sighed. He stood up and decided to go have a talk with Diego.
Outside behind Capsule Corp., Diego lay on the ground looking up at the sky. He couldn’t stop thinking of Nicole and how he had screwed everything up just by expressing his feelings toward her.
“I guess we are fortunate you didn’t break the house,” came Vegeta’s voice.
Diego closed his eyes. He didn’t want to be bothered by anybody. “Go away, please,” he said.
“I will,” said Vegeta, sitting down by Diego, “Just as soon as we have a little chat.”
“You and Truce are so much alike, it’s annoying.”
“Hmph! Nicole leaves tomorrow.”
Diego opened his eyes, sat up, and looked at Vegeta. “What?” he said, “I thought she had two more days!”
“Her brother called Bulma and said he’ll be picking her up a day earlier, something about preparing for her lessons or something.”
Diego’s heart sank. He didn’t want her to leave. He stood up and left his father’s side. He then quickly flew up to her window and tapped on it.
Vegeta shook his head and walked back into Capsule Corp. to finish his dinner.
Nicole sat on her bed just looking at the wall, when suddenly she heard a tapping sound on her window. She got up and walked to her window. When she saw Diego, she froze.
“Please, Nicole,” said Diego, “Can we talk?”
Nicole opened the window. “What is there to talk about?” she whispered.
“Can you come down to the yard with me?”
Nicole nodded. Diego helped her out of the window and they both flew down to the ground below.
Diego looked at Nicole and said, “Why you didn’t tell me you were leaving a day early?”
“I didn’t think you would care as much as you have been avoiding me lately,” said Nicole, coldly.
“You know why I have been, it’s not because I want to, but you could have at least told me that!”
“Would it have made a difference?” said Nicole, looking away.
Pain entered Diego’s heart at her words. “Yes,” he said, “I would’ve been more prepared for your departure.”
Tears started forming in Nicole’s eyes. “Goodnight, Diego,” she whispered and then flew back up to her window and closed it behind her.
Diego stood there shocked.
“My my my,” came a familiar female voice behind Diego.
Diego quickly turned around and saw his ex-girlfriend standing there. She had silvery blond hair and dark eyes. “Silvia,” Diego hissed.
The female saiyan grinned and said, “Long time, no see, dear.”
“Get the hell away from this house, before I kill you.”
“Now, now, is that a way to greet a former lover and mother of your child?”
“You are no mother of his, now get out of here!”
“Oh I will be going soon, no worries. I just saw a scene unfold before me and I had to check it out. It seems you and that little brat became more than friends now.”
More anger started flooding Diego’s emotions. “You were always jealous of her,” he said through gritted teeth.
“Me? Jealous?” Silvia laughed, “Don’t flatter yourself. Too bad you can’t enjoy her company more, she seems to hate you now, but don’t worry. You won’t have to be hurt by her anymore after tomorrow. It’ll be her last day in your life, I’ll assure that.”
“Silvia, if you attempt anything, I’ll murder you brutally!”
Silvia laughed again and said, “I look forward to it! Ta-ta!”
