Diego’s Story: Chapter 9

On Planet Gastavia, Nicole, Chiaki, and Ashen had arrived back to the palace. Ashen had noticed Nicole seemed a little off and said, “Are you okay, sis?”

“Me?” said Nicole, “Yes. I’m fine. But…can we not inform the counsel of this past incident today? I would like to be able to visit again soon.”

“Nicole,” said Ashen, “You have to be careful.”

“Please, Ashen. I’m pretty sure whatever that was; Diego took care of the problem.”

Ashen sighed and said, “Okay, I won’t tell the counsel. You should go rest. I’ll see you at dinner.”

            “Okay.”

Chiaki escorted Nicole in the palace to her room on the fifth floor. They stood outside her door before she went in.

“Your highness,” said Chiaki, “Are you sure you are okay? That was a deliberate attempt on your life today. Maybe it would be best to avoid Earth for a while.” He then saw Nicole had a saddened look on her face, and began to regret his words. “Of course, if your highness-.”

“Chiaki,” said Nicole, “Stop calling me that when it’s just you and me, please. We are the same age. It just seems weird.”

Chiaki smiled and said, “You will have older people than you calling you that and more in the future.” He then chuckled and said, “Why does it bother you for me to address you that way?”

Nicole’s eyes opened wide and she blushed. She then composed herself and said, “You are like my best friend, Chiaki. I would like for you to see us as such too.” She opened her bedroom door and said, “I’m going to go rest. You should too for a little.”

A few moments later, Nicole was lying on her bed, looking at her phone. She had been debating what to say to Diego. She missed him, but was confused how to feel about him anymore. She wanted to follow her heart and be more than friends with him, but she knew that would never happen.

She finally sent him a text and awaited his response.

Diego stood in his shower, the cold water running down his body. He was trying his best to forget the day’s events. He had almost lost the one person who meant so much to him. Then there was the fact that something happened to him when he went to kill Silvia that had never happened to him before. He had lost control over his usual composure. He had killed her, yes, in a way he had never killed before.

He turned off the shower and got out. He wrapped his towel around him, walked out of the bathroom, and to his room. As he was drying off and putting his clothes on, he noticed his phone lighting up about a new message.

He picked up his phone and saw he had a text message from Nicole.

{What happened today? Did it all get sorted out?} –Nicole.

{Somebody from my past attacked you. Yes. It’s sorted out. She won’t come after you again.} –Diego.

A few moments later a new message from Nicole came.

            {That’s good.} –Nicole.

After a few seconds, another message came after that one.

            {I miss you.} –Nicole.

Diego’s heart skipped a beat at the words. As he was about to reply, another text from Nicole came it. He closed his eyes after reading it.

{I love you. I love you and miss you.} –Nicole.

Diego opened his eyes and replied.

{Nicole, you already know my feelings for you. I’ll always be here for you. No matter what.} –Diego.

Minutes passed and then another message came in.

{I want to be with you, Diego.} –Nicole.

A warm feeling filled Diego’s heart. He replied then replied to her.

{Then let’s be together, even if we have to keep it hidden. As long as I have you, and you have me, we can be content.} –Diego.
