The next week Nicole was wondering around her palace, lost in thought. She had just gotten a break from one of her lessons. It was extremely hard to concentrate on her lessons since she had been back. Her thoughts kept going back to her last memory with Diego constantly. The feel of his kiss and his hands. She blushed thinking about it as she walked.
Then a sweet sound entered her range of hearing. A piano. She walked inside the music room she was near. There sitting at the piano was Chiaki. He was so lost in what he was playing, his eyes were closed and his body swayed with the rhythm as he played. Tears came to Nicole’s eyes. It was such a beautiful tune.
Chiaki continued to play as he said, “How long will you be just standing there, Princess?”
Nicole blushed and said, “I’m sorry. It’s such beautiful music; I didn’t know you could play.”
Chiaki finished the song and Nicole walked over to him and the piano.
“Would you like to sit beside me?” he asked her.
“Okay,” said Nicole. She then sat beside Chiaki.
“My mother wanted me to know more than to just being a warrior. She taught me to play the piano and sing.”
“You can sing as well?”
Chiaki smiled and started playing again, a different song this time. As he played he then began to sing with such a smooth voice. Tears started to travel down Nicole’s face it was so beautiful and had emotion to it.
Chiaki stopped when he saw Nicole’s tears. He reached out his hand and wiped the tears from her cheeks. He then locked eyes with her and whispered, “Please don’t cry.”
“It’s-you-everything-the song is so beautiful.”
Chiaki blushed and looked away from Nicole.
A few months passed by. Nicole’s testing date drew closer, her lessons becoming more intense. Outside the kingdom there were reports of various attacks on the Gastavian people by saiyans. Ashen was on top of the issue, working hard to find a solution to the attacks, even talking back and forth with King Vegeta. King Vegeta’s response was that the Gastavians were being attacked mainly because they were trespassing on Planet Vegeta. Chiaki would be present with Ashen during those conferences with King Vegeta. He didn’t believe that was the issue every time.
Another few months passed and still the issue persisted.
“King Vegeta,” said Ashen to the screen with King Vegeta on it, “There has to be a solution to all of this. If this keeps persisting we will have no choice but to go to the next level of all of this.”
“Prince Ashen,” said King Vegeta on the screen, “I have thought of a proposition. If you will agree, we could resolve this issue quite quickly.”
“And that is?”
“Your sister will need a husband to become a full-fledged queen for your people, is that not correct?”
Ashen was almost speechless. “Yes,” he said, “That-that is correct, but surely you aren’t suggesting she marry you!”
“Oh most definitely no!”
“Then?”
“I have a few grandsons. If you agree for your sister’s hand in marriage to one of them, we could make our laws much stricter, if not, then we shall go to war.”
“What?” said Ashen and Chiaki at the same time.
“Your choice,” said King Vegeta.
Ashen thought about it. Chiaki looked at Ashen and whispered, “Surely you can’t be considering this offer!”
Ashen sighed and whispered, “What choice do I have, Chiaki?”
“This is Nicole we’re talking about!”
“I’m sorry, Chiaki. She’ll have to understand.” Ashen then looked back at the screen and said to King Vegeta, “We accept your offer.”
King Vegeta grinned triumphantly and said, “Well done, Prince.” The screen then went black.
Ashen and Chiaki stood there for a few moments. Chiaki finally said angrily, “I can’t believe you would do this to your own sister!”
Ashen looked at Chiaki and said, “I would rather do this peacefully then have our people murdered in a war with that race.”
“Nicole will not like this! We don’t even know which grandson he is referring to! She should be married to a true Gastavian!”
“Like you?”
Chiaki went quiet and looked to the floor.
“I know it was proposed that you two should be married when the time came and as such you were designated as her personal body guard so as to get to know each other better, but I’m sorry, Chiaki. These are desperate times.”
“Then why not set Princess Ashney up for this!”
“I know you are angry, Chiaki, but Ashney isn’t the one to be queen at this time. Nicole is and as such it has to be her.”
Chiaki felt defeated. He turned away from Ashen and stormed out of the communications chamber.
