Truce’s room, as it turned out, was right beside Diego’s room. Nicole was surprised she didn’t know before. She knocked on the door. “Princess Truce?” she said, feeling awkward addressing her that way, “I have your breakfast.”
“Enter,” came Truce’s voice.
Nicole opened the door and walked in. Truce was still lying in her bed under the covers. When she saw Nicole she sat up and said, “Close the door behind you. We have to talk.”
Nicole nodded and did just that. She then carried the tray with Truce’s breakfast over to Truce and laid it over her lap.
“Why are you doing this?” asked Truce to Nicole.
“Doing what?” asked Nicole.
“Stop with the act around me, Nicole,” said Truce, “I could tell it was you from the first moment you came in with Diego at breakfast that day. So why are you here and disguised of all things?”
Nicole sat down at the foot of the bed. She then said in her normal voice, “Please don’t tell anyone else. The only ones who know besides you are Diego and your father.”
“I wouldn’t dream of exposing you,” said Truce, “What you are doing is very dangerous.”
“I know, but…it was the only way I saw for me.”
Truce took a sip of her tea from her tray and then said, “But why do this?”
Nicole looked at the floor and said, “Ashen engaged me to someone I don’t know. And I already made the decision in my heart that,” a tear slid down her cheek and she quickly wiped it away, “I already decided there was only one person for me.”
“Diego.”
Nicole nodded and then said, “Is it that obvious?”
Truce grinned and said, “For years, yes. And the fact that you two kept me up last night with all the noise you were making.”
Nicole blushed. “I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to-.”
“Be careful with that,” said Truce, “You are lucky it was me next door and nobody else.”
“I’ll try to be more quiet next time.”
Nicole then noticed how pale Truce looked as she finally glanced at her.
“Truce,” said Nicole, “Are you sick?”
“Huh?” said Truce, surprised.
“I mean, you’re so pale lately.”
“Oh that.” Truce sighed and said, “I’m not sick, just pregnant.”
Nicole was surprised at the news. “Really?” she said, “Congratulations.”
Truce sighed a little and then said, “No need to congratulate me too much.”
“Why not?”
“As much excited as I am over it,” said Truce, her smile fading, “The father abandoned me. But no need to discuss that bastard. We should go somewhere tonight; take a break from this palace.”
“Am I allowed? Will you fill up to it?”
“Nicole, I’m not dying,” Truce laughed, “After your chores, meet back here. I’ll take you somewhere fun where you can unwind a bit.”
Nicole smiled and said, “Okay.”
Later that evening, after she finished everything she had to do, Nicole made her way back to Truce’s room. She knocked and entered when Truce said so. As she closed the door she saw Truce just finished getting ready. She wore a purple shimmering dress, her baby bump barely visible.
“Wow, Truce,” said Nicole, “That dress is really nice…”
“Thanks,” said Truce as she looked at Nicole. She then frowned a little at Nicole’s clothing. “I guess you are going as Dimitri, then?”
“Yeah,” said Nicole, nervously laughing.
“Fine.” Truce then walked to Nicole, looped her arm around Nicole’s elbow, and said, “Let’s go.”
Diego walked into his room and looked at his bed. He was surprised that Nicole wasn’t there. He then checked the bathroom to see if she was there, but she wasn’t. He then left his room and walked to Truce’s room beside his. He knocked on it. There was no response. He opened the door to find it empty.
“Hmm…,” said Diego, “Both of them? Where did they go?”
He then closed his eyes and concentrated on both of them. His eyes then shot wide open when he realized where they were.
He then walked to his father’s room, which was located on the other side of Truce’s room. He knocked on it and said, “Father?”
“Enter,” came Vegeta’s voice.
Diego opened the door and walked in. He closed the door behind him. Inside Vegeta was standing out on his balcony, looking at the saiyan city beyond the palace gates. He looked back at Diego and said, “What is it?”
“Truce has taken her somewhere,” said Diego, walking to stand beside Vegeta.
“Huh?”
“I located their life force…in an underground night club.”
Vegeta closed his eyes and said, “Let’s go get them then.”
At said night club, Truce and Nicole sat at the bar. Nicole had just downed her fourth cup of the alcoholic drink that was being served. The gruff bartender said to Truce, “Your young friend here seems to like the drinks here. Are you sure you don’t want any, Princess?”
“I’m sure,” said Truce, “I’m pregnant, so it would be best if I didn’t. I just took him here to let him have a good time for a little.”
“Congratulations,” said the bartender, “I understand. Is this your boyfriend?”
Truce grinned and said, “Something like that.”
The bartender’s eyes opened wide as he looked past Truce. “Prince Diego,” he said, “Prince Vegeta. How might I serve you two?”
“I’ll let you know,” said Diego, “Just came to see my sister here.”
“Understood. Well call me over when you want to order something.”
Diego nodded. The bartender then walked away.
Truce turned to look at Diego and Vegeta. “What brings you two here?” she asked.
“I was just about to ask you the same,” said Diego, frowning at Truce. He then looked at Nicole drinking another cup. She was oblivious that he was there.
“I just brought dear Dimitri here to let him have a break and relax,” said Truce, “You can’t expect him to work, work, work, can you?”
“You brought him here to get him drunk?” asked Vegeta.
“That wasn’t the plan, really,” said Truce, “He’s the one who wanted to try it.”
Diego shook his head and said, “She’ll pass out soon. Saiyan alcoholic beverages contain 10 times the alcohol than any of the drinks on Earth.” He then tapped Nicole’s shoulder.
Nicole looked up at Diego, surprised. “Diego!” she said, “When did you get here?”
“Just now,” said Diego, “How many cups have you drunk?”
“Hmm,” Nicole thought for a moment, “About…five?”
Diego’s expression changed to that of surprise. “Five?” he said.
Nicole smiled. Then she seemed to notice the music being played. “Diego!” She quickly stood up, stumbling a little. She grabbed onto him to support herself. “Diego! Let’s dance!”
Diego was taken by surprise. She seemed to have forgotten that she was disguised as a boy, but the pleading look in Nicole’s eyes made it impossible to resist her request. He closed his eyes, cursed himself, and led her out on the dance floor.
“He can’t be serious,” said Vegeta, surprised.
Truce laughed and said, “I wish I could take a picture of this moment.”
The songs Diego and Nicole danced to had a fast beat. They did get some strange looks from other saiyans around them. Then suddenly the song changed to something slow. Diego had to revert Nicole back to the bar, to avoid a slow dance with her in her current state. He could also see the expression on her face. She was either about to pass out or throw up.
“I’m so dizzy,” Nicole laughed out.
“Diego,” said Truce, “I’ll get him home.”
“Huh?” said Diego.
“Let me save your dignity as prince here,” laughed Truce.
Diego blushed and then nodded.
Truce, supporting Nicole, then left the nightclub. Diego and Vegeta decided to stay a little longer and have a drink or two.
As Truce took Nicole into the palace, they did not know that they were being watched. King Vegeta followed behind them as Truce took Nicole to her room. He stopped when the door closed. He narrowed his eyes and then turned to head to his own chamber.
